medUGO is a free health communication smartphone application. A group of health professional students acts as student volunteers, writing health summaries for participants and answering questions about their health.
Participants can use a computer or smartphone to make an appointment for the service, and can choose the call language (English, Cantonese or Mandarin) when making an appointment. Student volunteers will conduct voice or video calls in the language of the participant's choice. The information will be integrated as a health summary, including the participant's medical history, family health background, current health condition, etc., as well as unify medical terms into Hong Kong standard version. Participants can download and save the health summary with the application, which will be used as a reference for medical staff when receiving medical services next time, which will help strengthen communication with medical staff.
